Since inception in 2004, ECDI has benefited local communities throughout the state of Ohio, assisted over 10,000 individuals, disbursed over $37 million through 1,700 small business loans, and created and retained over 6,500 jobs via our comprehensive suite of programs available through our offices. ECDI’s loans range from $500 to $350,000, serving a variety of clients and uses for the loans. The organization supports loans for new and established businesses. Many of our other services can help develop a new business into a loan-ready client.

Contract Trainer - Columbus, OH

Essential Responsibilities:

 The Economic & Community Development Institute (ECDI), Ohio’s foremost non-profit microlending organization, is seeking contract trainers. to facilitate training and workshops in multiple areas including:

  • small business development
  • including feasibility assessments
  • market analyses
  • need assessments
  • business plan development and strategy
  • business structure
  • cash flow analysis and projections
  • implementing effective marketing and communication strategies.

We are especially interested in experienced candidates with demonstrated success working with the following populations:

  • low-to moderate-income entrepreneurs
  • distressed communities
  • minority entrepreneurs
  • refugee and immigrant entrepreneurs
  • women entrepreneurs.

Community engagement is expected, as well as the ability to facilitate courses/workshops that meet the needs of diverse participants. Bi-lingual applicants are encouraged, with a specific need for Spanish, Somali, Arabic, and Nepali speaking instructors. Prior entrepreneurial experience is valued, and we seek candidates that are familiar with the challenges faced by entrepreneurs and solutions needed for business success

Capital Advisor - Cleveland, OH

We are currently seeking a Capital Advisor for our Cleveland, OH location, to provide financial coaching for historically underserved entrepreneurs, including women, minorities, low income and immigrants/refugees. The Capital Advisor will provide financial coaching and assist entrepreneurs in loan packaging including preparation of financial statements such as cash flow, income statement, and balance sheet and understanding the terms and conditions of sources of capital. 

 Qualified applicants will have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Deep knowledge and ability to coach clients with regard to financial statements and projections.
  • Demonstrate a working ability and knowledge of income statements and balance sheet
  • Ability to build and sustain relationships with multiple partners.
  • Displays flexibility in meeting clients.
  • Ability to work with a diverse mix of clients.
  • Familiarity with sources and terms of capital. 
  • Knowledge and experience with traditional and alternative financing programs.

Qualified applicants will have the following education and/or experience:

  • A minimum of three years previous banking, community development lending, financial, or similar experiences required. Previous successful business ownership a plus. 
  • A Bachelor's degree with at least three (3) years of lending or financial coaching experience in a customer contact capacity.
  • SBA program experience desired.
