Since inception in 2004, ECDI has benefited local communities throughout the state of Ohio, assisted over 10,000 individuals, disbursed over $37 million through 1,700 small business loans, and created and retained over 6,500 jobs via our comprehensive suite of programs available through our offices. ECDI’s loans range from $500 to $350,000, serving a variety of clients and uses for the loans. The organization supports loans for new and established businesses. Many of our other services can help develop a new business into a loan-ready client.

We are looking for candidates to join the ECDI team. The following positions are available:

Commercial Lender/Relationship Manager - Columbus, Ohio

The Relationship Manager (RM) evaluates and recommends approval of commercial loans to the EVP of Lending and loan review committee. In many instances, the Relationship Manager will provide technical assistance to applicants while reviewing the application materials and backup documentation as well as helping the credit analyst prepare the credit memorandum.

Qualified applicants will have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of standard commercial lending practices, procedures, and techniques.
  • Knowledge and experience with SBA and economic development finance programs would be a plus.
  • Knowledge and understand of construction and real estate development lending would be helpful.

Qualified applicants will have the following education and/or experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or Economics or related fields AND at least three (3) years commercial lending experience in a customer contact capacity including analysis, underwriting, and processing loans along with the ability to cross-sell additional value-added products and services.
  • Five (5) years of work experience in a commercial or retail lending field may be substituted for a Bachelor’s Degree. Work experience must include credit analysis functions.

Senior Commercial Loan Processor/Loan Processor - Columbus, Ohio

The Loan Processor handles the necessary paperwork as a loan application moves towards loan closing, maintains the integrity of the files, handles client requests in coordination with Relationship Managers, collects and reviews loan data, enters information necessary, and assists with preparation of weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage documents; update and maintain loan portfolio management system using electronic and paper documentation methods following appropriate policies and procedures.  
  • Assist in handling direct client requests on loan servicing issues and technical assistance, working with Finance & Lending Departments regarding reconciliation items.
  • Assist with the monitoring of current loan portfolio such as: sending request for updated information including financials and insurance, recording those updates in electronic databases, and utilizing the alert system for continued monitoring of loans.
  • Assist with pre-closing services actions when required. Setting up the loan file, reconciling the paper and electronic copies as necessary.
  • Assist the Lending Department with basic due diligence and background searches on loan applicants.
  • Assist with reporting requests from funders as necessary.

Qualified applicants will have the following education and/or experience:

  • At least two (2) plus years of Loan Processing experience with commercial and residential loan processing and servicing.
  • Prefer two (2) year degree or applicable commercial loan processing experience.
  • Knowledge of the Micro Soft Office Suite and familiarity with managing databases.

AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) Temporary- Columbus, Ohio

ECDI Columbus is currently expanding and improving the Professional Advisors Network (PAN) a network of business mentors in central Ohio who volunteer their time and expertise by providing counseling sessions to ECDI and WBC members. The network currently consists of experts with wide ranging professional experience, including accounting, marketing, legal and more. The VISTA’s primary objective will be on growing the capacity of the program through a number of initiatives: Increasing the number of volunteer mentors, assessing the needs of existing and new clients through surveying, assessing and streamlining program processes, and pioneering the use of technology to mitigate geographic and/or transportation issues with accessing counseling sessions. The VISTA will also manage a database for the PAN program, in addition to developing a program to assess the efficacy of the counseling sessions and improve the program for future clients.

  • Assist in the establishment and growth of an advisory panel of active professionals in Columbus, increasing the number of volunteer advisors.
  • Build and maintain an excel database of ECDI mentors; Organizing and maintaining a schedule of advisor availability, mentoring meetings and classes provided by PAN mentors
  • Engage with ECDI clients and community, assessing their small business development and mentorship needs.
  • Assess opportunities to utilize technology and new communication methods to expand the reach of the program to additional participants.
  • Evaluate current and proposed programs and services with the intention to use results for quality improvement.
  • The VISTA must be organized and able to simultaneously work on multiple stages of a project from planning to execution to assessment. They need to be technologically adept, competent in MS office, and modern digital communication methods. The VISTA needs to be comfortable communicating with both experienced professionals and early stage entrepreneurs.
