Columbus: class: B.A.S.E. - Basis of a Successful Enterprise. Session 1 - In partnership with SBDC

B.A.S.E. is the Basis of a Successful Enterprise. B.A.S.E. will help you discover what it will take for you to build a business around your dreams and passion. Not just any business but a business that will allow you to live, thrive and become a successful entrepreneur.

This is the first of two workshops included in B.A.S.E. Completetion of both workshops is required for enrollment into SBDC's "Biz Start" Small Business Education series. 

Topics covered in B.A.S.E. include:

 Tax Requirements
 How to Market and Sell your Product or Service
 How to Write a Business Plan
 Access to Sources of Financing

Columbus: event: SBA's InnovateHER Challenge 2017: Innovating for Women Business Challenge Live Pitch Award Night

Wednesday, May 03 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM

InnovateHER Challenge is a nationwide competition, open to men and women, to find the most innovative products and services that help impact and empower women's lives. 

(This event is FREE and open to the PUBLIC!)

 

The five finalists have been selected and you are invited to a “Shark Tank” type evening where a winner will be declared. Each finalist will have 5 minutes to pitch their product and then receive feedback and questions from the judges. The winner of this local contest has the opportunity to travel to Washington DC for the national competition with a total of $70,000 in prize money.

You, the audience, will have a chance to score the finalists, lending your voice to selection of the final winner.

This class will discuss certification programs (MBE, EDGE, WBE, DBE and LEDE), the certification process, what documents to submit with your application.  This class is presented by Ronda Watson Barber, publisher of OhioMBE. Ronda has a wealth of knowledge and experience in guiding small businesses through the certification process.

This multiple session, hands-on marketing course is perfect for new business owners looking to learn the basics of marketing, or for business owners who are looking for creative marketing ideas on a limited budget.

 

The format of this course will consist of three, two-hour sessions, including group instruction and one-one-one consultations. We will cover:

  • Essential Marketing Cheat Sheet: A template of content that you can use on your website and other marketing materials
  • Starter Website: Participants will have a starter website and learn how to add content.

Are you in the process of applying for a loan through ECDI? OR...are you interested in applying, but aren't sure exactly what to do? This class is for you! Join Ellen Harvey, Director of the Women's Business Center for this informative and hands-on training where she will take you through the process, answer your questions, and minimize the stress of applying! In this training you will learn: what we look for in a loan application; what documents are needed to complete your application; the process after submission. There will be an opportunity after the 2-hour session for you to sit down with Ellen and have her look over the paperwork that you've collected so far. 

This class is free and open to all, with 20 guaranteed spots for previous S.E.E.D. participants.
